Cops ASSAULT Pro-Palestinian Protesters on Brooklyn Bridge, DETAIN Journalists
NYPD temporarily detain SC videojournalist Jon Farina and another journalist—while attacking other protesters. Farina has covered OVER 40 Ceasefire Now protests. Will you chip in so we can continue?
Hey folks, it’s Jordan.
Of the OVER 40 Ceasefire Now protests videojournalist Jon Farina has covered for Status Coup in NYC and D.C., yesterday’s might have been the most outrageous in terms of police disregarding the law, freedom of the press, and general regard for protecting the public (video below).
“We’re press, we’re press!,” Farina shouted as police kept pushing him back on the Brooklyn Bridge after they tackled protesters who had blocked traffic on the bridge (which also happened earlier in the across the country on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco).
Look, I’m going to keep it real: Jon and Status Coup has covered more Ceasefire protests THAN ANY OTHER OUTLET IN AMERICA—CORPORATE OR INDEPENDENT. You might not know, it’s EXPENSIVE to do so. Between paying Jon, who’s doing an amazing job, and broadcasting costs—the more hours we livestream, the more it costs (we went WAY over our data plan live-streaming these protests last month and owed $2,000)—it takes a lot of resources to do this important ON-THE-GROUND reporting.
So…I’m asking you: Will you support us for 16 cents a day ($5 a month)? You can also donate to help fund our reporting.
