On the Road Again...
We're in East Palestine OH continuing to cover the ongoing DISASTER following Norfolk Southern chemically nuking EP. Next, we're headed to Flint for the decade anniversary of the ONGOING water crisis.
Hey folks it’s Jordan.
I’m about to head into East Palestine Ohio (my first time there; Status Coup’s sixth reporting trip there over the last 14 months). Unlike the rest of corporate media, as well as most independent outlets, we STAY ON the important stories of Americans being poisoned, exploited, and oppressed long after the rest of the cameras leave. Yesterday, we went LIVE interviewing an East Palestine couple who—over a year after the derailment and detonation—still can’t go back to their home because it is so badly contaminated from the cancer-causing chemicals Norfolk Southern detonated over East Palestine. As a result, they’ve been relegated to living in a 1980s trailer with their two dogs and child. We had some Internet connectivity issues during the livestream—but luckily we also recorded the interview. We’ll be publishing the interview again for you to watch.
Next, we’re headed to do more interviews in East Palestine. Stay tuned for those….
After that, we’re hitting the road again, driving 4.5 hours to Flint. There, we will cover events tomorrow—which is the decade anniversary of the ONGOING Flint water crisis—LIVE. I am also excited to announce that we have found a space in Flint to premiere our “Flint Fatigue” documentary on the day of the 10-year anniversary. If you’re a Flint resident, or live nearby, please come out tomorrow night for the premiere at 8pm est at The Peoples Church. For everyone else, we’ll be premiering the documentary this coming Sunday, April 28th, on Breaking Points YouTube channel and our “Flint Fatigue” website.
In case you haven’t yet seen, here’s a SNEAK PEEK of the trailer.
I’ve seen the full documentary—produced and directed by Status Coup’s original and first cameraman Ty Bayliss and shot by current Status Coup videojournalist Jon Farina. I have to say…I think you will find it extremely moving—and infuriating.
So, brief recap. On a shoestring budget, we’ve:
Driven 6 hours to East Palestine and are currently the ONLY journalists in town continuing to cover this scandal and cover up.
Then driving 4.5 hours to Flint—MY 21ST REPORTING TRIP TO FLINT IN 8 YEARS—to cover the decade anniversary march and events.
Then premiering our “Flint Fatigue” documentary in Flint at 8pm Thursday night at The Peoples Church.
As always, being on the road is unpredictable…so other stories/news might pop up.
