Native Americans BATTLE Another POISONING | The Fight Against Thacker Pass Lithium Mine
Jordan Chariton sat down with activists about Native American land being wrecked by Lithium mines
Jordan Chariton interviewed Bhie-Cie (BC) Zahn-Nahtzu, a member of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, and Max Wilbert and Will Falk, co-founders of Protect Thacker Pass, about the years-long indigenous-led fight to stop the Thacker Pass Lithium mine in Northern Nevada, the biggest lithium deposit in America and one of the biggest in the world. Construction—which has been opposed by regional Native American tribes, environmental organizations, and the local farming and ranching community—began in 2023. The site is on a collapsed super volcano and the site of two previous massacres of Native Americans. The site is sacred to at least 22 tribes. In 2023, Native Americans end environmental activists held peaceful protests for a month, leading to the Lithium Nevada Corporation to sue six peaceful protestors, who have become known as the "Thacker Pass Six" (see legal defense fund link above). In 2021, the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, Burns Paiute Tribe, and Summit Lake Paiute Tribe filed a lawsuit to stop the mine. For more on Thacker Pass:
