As we expected for weeks now, United Auto Workers officially went on strike at midnight after Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis dragged their feet for weeks and lobbed one insulting offer after the other.

To start, UAW is on strike at three plants—a GM plant in Wentzville, Missouri; a Stellantis plant in Toledo, Ohio; and a Ford plant in Wayne, Michigan. As UAW President Shawn Fain announced, the union may go on strike at more plants as negotiations continue. I’ll be hitting the ground running this afternoon covering the picket lines LIVE at the Ford plant in Michigan. Hours later, I’ll be covering a big UAW rally with Bernie Sanders in Detroit. This weekend I expect to continue to cover picket lines and action in Michigan and Ohio—and of course interview workers about the DECADES of exploitation and injustice they’ve experienced at the hands of these greedy car companies.
